Sarah Eden Houglum is a watercolor artist known for her vibrant, cheerful paintings that capture the beauty of nature and the spirit of the places she loves. With a background in fashion design and a minor in art, Sarah’s creative journey has been lifelong and ever-evolving.

Originally from Houston, Texas, Sarah built a successful mural business called Sarahndipity, specializing in whimsical murals for schools and children's bedrooms. After meeting her husband Rob, she relocated to Southern California, where she spent the next 20 years raising her family and continuing her artistic career. In 2016, the family made a life-changing move to the island of Maui, where Sarah found new inspiration in the island’s natural beauty and close-knit community.

Before the pandemic, Sarah joined the Lahaina Arts Society and became a regular fixture at their weekend art fairs at the historic Cannery Mall in Lahaina. Her work was well-loved by locals and visitors alike.

Everything changed in 2023 when a devastating wildfire tore through Lahaina, destroying homes, small businesses, and even damaging the banyan tree. Moved by the tragedy, Sarah began painting scenes of the banyan tree and the powerful “Paddle Out” ceremonies held in remembrance and solidarity. Her deeply emotional and colorful "Paddle Out" series captured the heart of the Maui ‘ohana. Her work caught the attention of Martin & MacArthur Galleries, where she is now honored to be a resident artist.

Today, Sarah splits her time between Maui and Florida, where she lives near her children, Jake and Jordy. She continues to pour her heart into custom commissions and new watercolor pieces, always painting with a spirit of hope, resilience, and aloha.
